Spoiler In Words: Secret Episode 16

OMG it's the finale already!?! I still have 6-ish episodes to catch up on - which is entirely intentional on my part - somehow, with this show, I really wanted to do a proper marathon and enjoy it in its entirety, rather than getting caught up with the weekly hype. Whatever the ending may be, I hope it's the kind that stays with me, long after it ends (in a good way, of course).

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 20

Bye bye, so long and thanks for the tears. WTF?!!! This doesn't look to good *cold sweat*
Spoiler In Words
Yi Kyung looks at Ji Hyun with a surprised expression on her face. Ji Hyun tells her about how her fate will turn out, and begs her not to tell Han Kang.

Ji Hyun brings a picnic basket to Han Kang's restaurant, and requests that they act like lovers on a date for the day...

Chloe Says: Oh no oh no oh no, I'll never be the same again if this turns out badly. How much more tears do you want me to shed? There is a great chance that I might die of dehydration.

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 19

I;mn typpinh with my eyes clossedd. ZZzz.
Skylar Grey - Love The Way You Lie
I like rap in songs, but sometimes vanilla is just better. The original demo for the song sang by Rihanna and Eminem - but seriously this vanilla is even better - a very very much raw-er version about a brutal co-dependent relationship caught in an abusive cycle, each still needing the other despite the horrors (very much like what we heard about Kang Min Ho's parents?). Why do people stay with the ones who hurt them so? We'll never know.

Spoiler In Words
Upon hearing that Ji Hyun has miraculously woke up, Han Kang rushes to meet her, only to hear the distant voice she uses to speak to him before: "Long time no see." Upon realizing that Ji Hyun has no memory whatsoever of the past 49 days, Han Kang is extremely let down (I understand, Kang-ah. But at least she is stilll alive loh, not like Song Yi Soo).
On the other hand, the term for the Scheduler is coming to an end, hence Yi Soo wanting to meet Yi Kyung. An envelope drops from the sky above, and it even says: "An invitation from Song Yi Soo", surprising Yi Kyung...

Chloe Says: Suddenly (and miraculously), I'm wide awake again. So imma going to watch 17 and 18, tattas.

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 18

Rainy Day - Loveholic

No salvation in sight for Min Ho, looks like he's hell bent on destroying every last bit of Ji Hyun's happiness and thereby earning his one-way ticket to hell. Looking to save up all the bad karma this year huh? Not even Bae Soo Bin's aegyo off the set can save you from the wrath of 49 Day fans, buddy.

Spoiler In Words
The Ji Hyun who is using Yi Kyung's body can no longer hide her feelings for Han Kang, whom has been treating her sincerely all this time. She suddenly embraces him from the back, a surprised Han Kang asks: "Is it you Ji Hyun?" Ji Hyun's heart aches over the fact that she cannot answer that question.
Min Ho find In Jung who is shivering because of Ji Hyun, and tells her that his plan is on the brink of collapse. He  tells her to think of ways to finish it off since she was the one who proposed it in the first place. In Jung is surprised to see this side of Min Ho.

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 17 + On-site Pictures

When I did finally catch up with 49 Days over the weekend, the scene of me watching Ep. 16 wasn't pretty (in fact, that's probably an understatement). Not only was I crying like a train wreck, I had tissues stuck up my nostrils (mucus!) and had to resort to Lamaze breathing to calm myself down. I knew it was coming, but I might as well have not.
Stupid spoilers don't prepare your heart at all. Sheesh.

Spoiler In Words
Han Kang gets a shock when she sees Yi Kyung leaving by a taxi. He follows after her. The Scheduler helps up the fainted Ji Hyun and sends her to Seoul Station on his motorcycle. Yi Kyung who has arrived at Seoul Station took the train. Following behind, Ji Hyun and Han Kang also takes the train.
Towards Yi Kyung, Han Kang says that she is the only one who can find a certain person around here (i.e Ji Hyun) and pleads for her to help. Ji Hyun is also crying saying she wants to live, and that she only need 10 days. Yi Kyung is able to hear her cries and pleas.

As a result, Yi Kyung is prepared to listen to her circumstances and begins to talk to Ji Hyun's soul face-to-face.
Chloe Says: I think it's GREAT that Yi Kyung tries to leave Seoul. For that means she WANTS TO LIVE, despite still being the Expressionless Queen. Also, thank heavens for Han Kang (what will Ji Hyun do without him?) I'm just worried that they will send Yi Soo to the elevator as he helped Ji Hyun to the Seoul Station. I mean, the higher ups aren't that cruel right? They won't do that right? That doesn't count as a favor right?

Jung Il Woo and Nam Gyu Ri @ outside of Seoul Station:
Oh I see the bike!

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 16

The moment we've all been waiting for...
Scheduler: T_T
hellochloe: T_T

Spoiler In Words
Through Ji Hyun, the Scheduler (i.e Yi Soo) gets hold of his past photos. Suddenly, Ji Hyun's appearance with Yi Kyung's from five years ago overlaps. Yi Soo remembers those times that he fought with Yi Kyung due to a misunderstanding. As a result, he recalls the memories he had with Yi Kyung and his feelings for her. He weeps, remembering his old life.
On the other hand, the Min Ho who knows about Ji Hyun possessing Yi Kyung's body goes to Yi Kyung's place and secretly hands over a check to the landlord, asking her to drive Yi Kyung out of her property...

49 Days: The Magazine

I know the title mentions 49 Days, but forget about JHJ, Lee Yo Won, BSB and Nam Gyu Ri. It's all about The Scheduler baby!
I suspect that his subplot is 99% responsible for my sudden peak of interest in the show. For me, the journey was incredibly mediocre until the turning point during Episode 12's ending. Something snapped in me during the last 15 minutes of that episode.

An episode later, I love everyone, from Han Kang to Shin In Jung (in fact, I found the supposed "witch" most pitiful).

Now for the pages:

A very emo side profile.

Next, it's chibi's turn:
So cute! The texture of chibi's hair looks the same as his real life self.

Moe glasses! Did he don them in 49 Days? I can't recall....

It must be fun being the only supernatural being in the drama, you get stylistic photoshoots^^

Latest BTS shots from 49 Days: What happened to Song Yi Soo...

More memories are revealed, and more mystery unravels. The following stills are from Jung Il Woo's weibo (Chi twitter) account, and it features him from his "past", most likely remembered by Song Yi Kyung during her emergency visit to the psychiatrist (for more details on the plot, see the SIW for upcoming episode 15 here).
Farewell (Insa) - DBSK

If I'm feeling a tad melancholic now, imagine the Kleenexes I'll end up using on D-day itself. Because there's nothing soppier than a proposal that never was...
Yi Soo goes out to buy a wedding ring? Then dies on the way? Andwehhhhhh~

But those are the cold facts: A flashback way back in Episode 1 confirms this:
Song Yi Kyung remembering a certain young man's body lying on the gravel before trying to kill herself on that very same road, that very same day.

It's the very same outfit.

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 15

Boy, who would have known. It took me quite a while, but I'm finally hooked (as in the bad crack kind) on this show and happy to hear that it's got 20 episodes instead of the usual 16-18. Five more episode of goodness :)
Love Will Come Through - Travis

And what a cliffhanger! Gloomy girl recognizes Min Ho! How???

Spoiler In Words
Yi Kyung who does not know how to answer him (i.e. Min Ho), she panics and runs away. She has no idea what to do; in the end she enlist the help of the psychiatrist, Kyung Bin. On the other hand, Min Ho feels that Yi Kyung has been acting unusually. After checking, he concludes that the possibility of Ji Hyun being in Yi Kyung's body is plausible and feels anxious over it.
Meanwhile, Yi Kyung recalls painful memories of her past with Yi Soo and could not help but shed a tear in front of the doctor. Upon seeing this, Yi Soo unknowingly tears up as well...

Chloe Says: In the week of shocking discovery...I've also found out that...

BAE SOO BIN is such a sweetheart off the set! His performance last week on his revelation of his childhood was amazing. I can't hate him anymore, despite the fact that I hate people who use their sappy childhood story as a justification to be evil.
This is too adorable XD

The chivalrous prince.

The Adorable strikes again.

Peace out!

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep.5

Out of boredom, I randomly searched for some kvariety shows to watch on youtube. And I came across one hosted by Kang Ho Dong and Lee Seung Gi called Strong Heart (although I'm sure you know that already). It's so addictive! Then again, probably all kvariety shows are crack, aren't they?
Heartbeat - K.will

The determined Ji Hyun strode towards the door and rings the doorbell without falter. Ji Hyun's mom's voice can be heard through the intercom, asking who she is. She makes up something on the spot, casually replying that she is Ji Hyun's friend. She enters the house, only to find her mom immersed in grief. Ji Hyun is sadden by this, but can only bear it in her heart as she has the appearance of someone else right now (i.e Yi Kyung's).
Ji Hyun retrieves the seal from her stuffed kangaroo toy in her room. Knowing all this will soon be over, she leaves. Then came In Jung, and when she found out that the seal has been removed, she is distraught.

Chloe Says: God, I swear I'm a genius sometimes. I was thinking the seal was with the kangaroo too! (in the pocket with the baby kangaroo, to be exact). I use to own one when I was little, and proceeded to drool all over it. It got very stinky, as thus had to be thrown away (much to my devastation). Ah, the memories.

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 4

Things that define 49 Days:

  • Dead, But Not Quite (i.e Soul In Limbo)
  • Invade Some Other's Body To See Your Loved Ones, But Wait You Can't Tell Them Who You Really Are (good luck!)

When it comes down to it, these two are the main reasons why I tune in to this show (not JHJ, or even Jung Il Woo in all his Shinigami hotness). As a romance fan, I'm a real sucker for point No. 2. and has since watch countless other shows with this as a theme (including Hallmark movies).

I digress here, but have you ever watch HK film Fly Me To Polaris? The one starring then-newbies Richie Jen and Cecilia Chung? It's quite old (1999 film, to be exact) but it makes me cry, every. single. time. It's about this guy, Autumn who dies in an accident before he had the chance to tell the girl he loves about his feelings for her. He was given a chance to come back to Earth, but with a catch of course (see Point 2). Cecilia is brilliant playing the spunky Autumn, and is also the main reason why I'm a fan of hers (she rocks at playing  My Sassy Girl-like characters).

Do watch it if you have the time. Easily available on you*beep*

Spoiler In Words
Can't Have You - Hyun Bin

Using Yi Kyung's body, Ji Hyun secretly goes into her own home to look for the seal. She knows that she must get her hands on it before Min Ho does. Suddenly she hears a human voice and she hides near the window on the 2nd floor in panic. Min Ho arrives at her house to look for the seal, but his efforts are in vain, and he leaves, disappointed. Ji Hyun, seeing all of this, is in even more disappointment and frustration.

Meanwhile, Han Kang is unhappy with In Jung skipping out on work only to return now. However, seeing In Jung's actions remind him of Ji Hyun (must be that fingernail thingy she does)

Chloe Says: You know, I swear I've watched this I'm-Really-A-Cheating-Bastard-Behind-Your-Back scenarios in achim kdramas a thousand times before (Ooh remember Don't Hesitate?). Bastard must be getting seal to get hands on her property, or something. Game on, cheater! Will be looking forward to seeing your downfall.

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep.3

One of my favorite versions of the song:
Stand By Me - 200 Pounds Beauty OST

With 2 episodes, it's sufficient for me to reach a conclusion to what I feel about this series. I'm not smitten (no 'doki-doki's, sorry my JHJ), but just a bit intrigued on one thing. That is: What purpose does Lee Yo Won's character play here? Since Bae Soo Bin x Ji Hyun OTP is pretty much out of the question if he's really seeing the best friend (scandalous! They still have the mood to shag?). That leaves us with Jo Hyun Jae (don't think I'll be getting any second lead syndrome soon). Also, does that mean Lee Yo Won's real character (the moody one, not the chirpy invaded-by-Nam Gyu Ri-one) does not matter at all, and she is just a plane?

Dang. That means Lee Yo Won's significance is lesser than I thought. This is bad, 'cause I have a problem liking the main female character. Maybe it's the acting, but she seems...so ditsy. It's just me, I suppose. Even in real life, I can't stand overly chirpy people. They depress me. But anyways, there's no question I'll keep following these series. It's a dry spell in dramaland now, and I can't afford to be picky, heh.

Spoiler In Words Episode 3
Seeing Min Ho and In Jung meeting secretly, Ji Hyun feels like escaping, hence she rushes out of the building. She presses the "Emergency Only" button to call for the Scheduler, only to be shouted at when he appeared. She yells, asking him whether he already knows why she got into an accident.
Han Kang finds Ji Hyun curled up on the ground at the bar entrance, muttering incessantly due to the shock of her discovery. She saw her fiance, and after handing over the proof of employment to Han Kang, she faints...

Chloe Says: PS, lets hope that Jo Hyun Jae has more expression than his current I'm-So-Pissed-At-You-But-Not-Really look. Seriously, that's his expression throughout the two episodes.

Spoiler In Words: 49 Days Ep. 1

Hi guys! It feels like a gazillion years since I translated something. Are you guys excited for tonight's show? Here's a little preview on what's to come. Hope y'all have been well for the past, ahem, two weeks (hey it's not that long right?).
Can We Love Again? - Davichi & 4MEN (is there a better combo than this?)

**A completely off-topic sidenote: Finally reached The Epic Episode 14 of Once Upon A Time in Saengchori. So so much SiGa references to set a girl's heart aflutter (it's SiGa: Country Version!), with a peppering of Baker King, Kim Tak Gu to tempt you into watching Baker King, if you haven't already. Eeesh, can't they make Yoon Shi Yoon a regular? *sobs at the end of oppa's cameo*

Spoiler In Words
It's a week before the wedding, and Ji Hyun has been busy preparing for her wedding of a lifetime. With her uniquely optimistic personality, even though she is busy organizing the wedding, something has been bothering her: It's Min Ho's hoobae, Han Kang. Han Kang and her went to the same high school together, where they constantly quarreled. Even though it has been 10 years, she feels that Han Kang still dislikes her, and she has been bothered by that.

It's the 5th death anniversary of Yi Kyung's (ex?)lover, and she came bearing flowers to place at the scene of the accident. She suddenly rushed in front of a speeding vehicle...The vehicle pulled an emergency brake, causing the car behind to hit its rear. The Ji Hyun who has her thoughts somewhere else at that moment, she tries to steer to avoid the scene but hits the lamp post anyway.

Chloe Says: Hmmm...me wonders whether Nam Gyu Ri will have more airtime beyond this. Whadd'ya think?

Take a Peek: 49 Days On The Scene

49 Days is one show I'll be VERY (Very very) disappointed if it turns out to be what's the right word...disappointing? Yes, it's three very(s) and that's how high my hopes are for this show. I knew I was in from the moment I caught whiff of the plot. Someone who has 49 days to collect tears of their love ones before they really die? Oooh you got me. I dig characters that are hanging-in-a-limbo, so to speak. More on what to expect from the show after the jump.

So What Am I Expecting?
My first impression was: Something like Secret Garden, since they're doing the body switch and all. Except I think they won't be switching back and forth. So probably more like Who Are You? (which I thought was AMAZINGAWESOME in certain episodes).

Characters & Casting
It's pretty interesting, because Nam Gyu-Ri sounds pretty important in the synopsis, but let's face it: Lee Yo Won's the real main person here, since Nam Gyu-Ri's character is pretty much going to be comatose throughout the entire show. Her soul will be in Lee Yo Won's, which I found it pretty funny that everyone around Gyu-Ri are either broody or skeptics (hence the difficulties in obtaining the tears). Here's why I think why Gyu-Ri has her work cut out for her:
Gyu-Ri's fiance (Bae Soo Bin): Skeptic.
Gyu-Ri's best friend (Seo Ji Hye): A chadonyeo. 'nuff said.
Gyu-Ri's first love (Jo Hyun Jae): Featuring the holy trinity, a brooder, loner, cold.
Yo Won herself (pre-swap): Depressed and suicidal.
The only character profile whose doesn't seem depressing is Jung Il-woo's character. But since he's a shinigami it doesn't count.

I don't have anything bad or good to say about Lee Yo Won, I've seen her in Fashion 70's and Surgeon Bong Dal Hee, and she's okay I guess. Not enamored but not appalled either.

Jung Il-woo's going to be a shinigami! I smell more CF offers coming for him, 'cause he's gonna be the cutest shinigami in Korea. I'm anticipating to watch him actually, since I've not watch any of his shows before (nearly did, but no Take Care Of Young Lady was not worth it).

Oh lemme tell you about Jo Hyun Jae, I had a mighty crush for him once (has since subsided). He's the sole reason I managed to sit through that torturous Love Letter. I was as sad as the Soo Ae when I found out he wanted to be a priest.

On Nam Gyu-Ri, no comment (she's pretty?).

Below are some of the shots taken by Lucky People Who Happen To Be There during filming:

The poster was hanging out at cafe Reina after class when she saw Jo Hyun Jae, Seo Ji Hye and Nam Gyu-Ri (not in pic) filming. They went away shortly after the shoot was completed.
Luckily, she brought a camera with her and managed to take a few shots. She says she only got Jo Hyun Jae's side profile and hence could not recognise who he is. Can you believe it? I would have realize it's him in a heartbeat! Even without a side profile, because I recognize his back.
Seo Ji Hye who plays Nam Gyu-Ri's best friend.

Here's another on-location blurry shots of the wedding scene, at what seem like the Han River. Mind you, I have not been to Han River before but I've seen photos my parents took on tour and it looks strikingly similar (or maybe all the rivers there look alike?):

Suddenly it's a funeral:

The poster shoot:

I'm not sure whether this is the official poster or fan made, but it's most likely the latter. Either way I don't mind 'cause it's Jung Il Woo we're talking about here:
49 Days premiers on March 16 replacing Wed-Thu's Sign.
